The JCAST Advising Center offers in-person, phone, and virtual (Zoom) appointments.
Students will meet with the first available counselor unless they request a specific
one. When scheduling an appointment, students can select their preferred appointment
reason and meeting modality; however, please note that not all counselors are available
for every modality on all days.
Reasons for scheduling appointments
- Petition/Protest – For appeals, petitions, and related forms.
- Exploration and Roadmaps – For academic planning, major exploration, and long-term
goals. (previously Change of Major/Exploration)
- Holds – For conversations focused on registration holds and how to resolve them.
- Academic/Personal Support – For academic concerns and personal matters that may impact
a student’s success
How to Schedule an Advising Appointment
Note: Plan ahead — don’t wait until the last minute to schedule your appointment. Counselor
schedules tend to fill up quickly as the semester goes on.

Once your appointment is scheduled, you will recieve a confirmation email and a reminder
email 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- In-Person Appointment: Check in with our front desk in our office and a counselor
will get you at your scheduled time
- Virtual (Zoom): the Zoom link for your scheduled meeting will either be embedded within
the confirmation/reminder email for your appointment or will be sent by the counselor

Arrive on time for your scheduled session and bring any necessary documents. Have
your ID card or ID number ready. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment
may be canceled and you will need to reschedule. Please notify us by calling or emailing
your counselor if you are running late.
Please Note: If you plan to bring someone with you to your advising appointment (in person or on
Zoom), please notify us and be sure to complete the Authorization to Release Your Records Form prior to your appointment.
Walk-In Advising
Walk-in advising is available every Wednesday from 9:00–11:00 a.m. and 1:30–4:00 p.m. Walk-ins are in-person only, unless you are a START Student in the START program.
Please Note:
Walk-ins are intended for brief 10–15 minute meetings and are offered on a first-come,
first-served basis. More in-depth concerns (e.g., full degree plans, appeals, probation/disqualification)
may require a scheduled appointment. Wait times may vary depending on counselor availability.
Once we reach our maximum capacity of students, walk-ins will close for the day. Please
try again on the next walk-in day or schedule an appointment.
Appointment Campaigns
During the semester, students may receive emails inviting them to schedule an appointment
through a targeted appointment campaign. Common reasons for these campaigns include:
Advising Holds (Mandatory, Freshmen, Transfer, etc.)
Academic Notice (Probation/Disqualification) Hold
An advising campaign is a structured initiative designed to proactively engage students
in academic advising. These campaigns are launched by our center through Bulldog Connect
to encourage students to schedule an advising appointment—helping them stay on track
for graduation, clear holds, and receive support with course registration, degree
planning, and career preparation.
Coordinator of Internships & Professional Experiences — VACANT
We are currently in the process of hiring a new Coordinator of Internships for the
upcoming semester.
If students need assistance with Internship Record, please contact our center to schedule an appointment with a counselor.
For other career-related services—such as résumé building, mock interviews, and more—please
reach out to the Career Development Center.
