Experience: Since joining campus in December 2010, she has supported students in a variety of student success initiatives including: Student Success Counselor for the Commitment to Latino/a Success and Excellence Program, Graduate Outreach Specialist for the Graduate Net Initiative, Coordinator of Internships and Professional Experiences for the Jordan Advising and Career Development Center, and Counselor Placement Coordinator for the Counseling, Education, and Rehabilitation Department. 

Education: Imelda is a two-time graduate of Fresno State, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Family and Consumer Sciences and her Master of Science in Education Administration and Leadership.

Personal: Imelda and her husband Ryan have two children. A daughter named Leonora, and a son named Cruz. In her spare time Imelda enjoys spending time with family, friends and traveling. 

 

Nyxy ImesNyxy Morgan

Academic Counselor | nyxymorgan@mail.fresnostate.edu 

Experience: Nyxy has been an active leader on campus in previous staff and campus committee positions and as a student.Previous advising experience comes from working with the Services for Students with Disabilities office.  She is also a VET NET ALLY and certified by Mental Health First Aid USA.

Education: Nyxy is a two-time graduate of Fresno State, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and her Master of Science in Counseling, Student Affairs and College Counseling

Personal: Nyxy is a fan of TV shows Yellowstone, Stranger Things, Big Brother, and Dancing with the Stars, pro tennis (Go Federer!), and Coldplay. She also enjoys camping and spending time with her husband, kids, and two dogs. The key to her heart is ice cream, chocolate, and puppies.

Experience: Prior to Choua's current position as an Academic Counselor, she was a Graduation Coach within the Jordan College Advising and Career Development Center, where she provided targeted advising for students in agriculture. 

Education: Choua is a two-time alumna of Fresno State, where she achieved a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and a Master of Science in Counseling, option in Student Affairs and College Counseling. Additionally, Choua completed a minor in Hmong, further enriching her ability to engage with diverse student populations.

Personal: Outside of her professional responsibilities, Choua is passionate about photography and traveling. She enjoys capturing comments through her camera lens and discovering new places. She values and cherishes quality time with her family and loved ones, all of which contribute to her overall well-being and personal fulfillment.

START Program Academic Counselor | klassenrachel@mail.fresnostate.edu 

Experience: Prior to Rachel's current position as an Academic Counselor, she was a Graduation Coach within the Jordan College Advising and Career Development Center, where she provided targeted advising for students in agriculture. Afterwards, she became a Business Engagment Coordinator for the Fresno-Madera K16 Collaborative Grant at the Fresno State Foundation, where she built partnerships between education and industry to expand job placement opportunities for students. Now she's back with the Jordan College as a START Program Academic Counselor working with START Program Ag. Major students!

Education: Rachel is a two-time alumna of Fresno State, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling, option in Student Affairs and College Counseling. 

Personal: Rachel is passionate about all things exercise and teaches group fitness classes part-time at her local gym. She’s currently training to compete in a HYROX and enjoys the discipline and challenge it brings. Outside of fitness, she loves spending time with her spirited cocker spaniel and unwinding with walks or weekend adventures together.

Coordinator of Internships & Professional Experiences | egarrido@mail.fresnostate.edu

Experience: Having recently served as an Associate Director of Career Services at La Sierra University, Erwin oversaw departmental operations including staff recruitment, employer partnerships, student job and internship placement, and career workshops. Erwin enjoys spearheading career events and providing impacting experiences for students! 

Previously, he directed the Career Department at Pacific Union College, guiding students in career development and coordinating job fairs and employer networking events. 

Erwin has a passion for employer development, building community partnerships and creating student success through internships and job placement. 

Education: Erwin holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from the University of Phoenix–Fresno. 

Personal: A Los Angeles native and proud father of three, Erwin brings a warm, down-to-earth style—he might say he’s “specialized in Dad jokes.” He’s active outside the office, enjoying hiking, playing basketball (Lakers fan), and recently participating in a HYROX fitness event in Anaheim in 2024! On the job-market side, his varied background counseling students, coordinating programs, and collaborating with professionals across industries gives him a wide-angle perspective on skill building and career readiness.

Alan Herrera

Experience: Alan is passionate about empowering students and helping them navigate university life. At California State    University, Fresno, he has served as a Dog Days New Student Orientation Leader and High School Ambassador,   supporting new and prospective students in their transition to higher education

Education: Alan holds degrees in Psychology and Forensic Behavioral Sciences, which provide him with a strong foundation to understand and support student development holistically. He is currently pursuing his Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership program at California State University, Fresno. 

Personal: A proud Central Valley native, Alan brings a strong sense of community connection to his work. Outside of his professional role, he pursues his lifelong love for music through performance, composition, and instruction.

Experience: My involvement includes serving in Fresno State’s Associated Students Inc. student government, participating as a Multicultural and Ag Ambassador, and working as a student assistant in the Animal Science and Ag Education Department. 

Education: I hold a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education with a focus on Teacher Preparation, and I am currently pursuing a Master's in Agricultural Science. I am also enrolled in a credential program to earn my teaching credentials  and become a high school Ag teacher. 

Personal: In my personal time, I enjoy hanging out with friends and traveling across California.

Graduation Coach I marcosrosas@mail.fresnostate.edu 

Experience: Marcos has over seven years of experience supporting students in educational settings. His most recent position was as the Administrative Assistant for Fresno State’s Upward Bound Programs, overseeing program coordination, budgets, recruitment, and staff hiring. Previously, he served as a Program Assistant/Recruiter for Upward Bound and as a Paraeducator with Community Youth Ministries. He also contributes to the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project - CVI Conference as a committee member.

Education: Marcos is pursuing a Master of Science in Student Affairs and College Counseling at California State University, Fresno. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chicano Studies from Fresno State and an Associate of Arts in Sociology from Reedley College.

Personal: He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and likes to travel to the coast when given the chance. He is also a big One Piece fan!
