Tim joined Fresno State Faculty in January 2024. He retired from E. & J. Gallo
Winery after 15
years as Director of Winemaking and Concentrate Production, where he also served as
the
internship liaison with Fresno State. Many of the students he hired and mentored have
since
become full-time Gallo winemakers — a legacy he considers one of the most meaningful
parts of
her career.
Before joining Gallo, Tim managed wine and concentrate production at two Central Valley
facilities for Michael Hat Farming Company. He also managed sparkling wine and brandy
production for F. Korbel & Bros. at the Heck Cellars winery in DiGiorgio, CA.
During this time,
he developed expertise in brandy and high-proof spirit production across multiple
distillation
column designs. His distillation background also includes managing the Pacific Ethanol
corn-
alcohol facility in Madera, a pioneering zero-wastewater operation.
Earlier in his career, Tim spent six years with Anheuser-Busch overseeing wine, bottled
water,
and natural soda production facilities.Tim began his career at the historic Taylor
Wine Company
in Hammondsport, located in New York’s Finger Lakes region, after earning his bachelor’s
degree in chemistry with a focus in Enology and Viticulture. He was also a member
of the
“Committee of 60”, working alongside Vince Petrucci to raise endowment funds for the
VERC
facility — a contribution that helped strengthen the future of enology and viticulture
education at
Fresno State University.
