contributions to the quality of life in their communities.
Our Students
The Jordan College maintains an enrollment of approximately 1,700 undergraduate and
100 graduate students from diverse backgrounds up and down the state of California,
as well as from nations across the globe. On campus and throughout the community,
our students engage in learning science, technology and management not just in the
classroom, but by experience – on our 1,000-acre on-campus University Agricultural
Laboratory. And these are not the only activity opportunities: Students enjoy active
lifestyles on campus through social and athletic events and gain a sense of community
by participating in more than 250 clubs and organizations, including more than 30
within the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
Our History
Celebrating our 100th anniversary in 2022 as an official agricultural academic program, courses were taught on campus even earlier going back to 1914. Emphasis in specialized courses back then was similar today and included agricultural education, animal husbandry, farm equipment, and crop, orchard and vegetable production. The first of nine Deans (Eugene Egan) was hired in 1947 with a group of nine faculty who left indelible marks still felt on our programs still today (see picture to left). The campus farm lab, now known as the University Agricultural Laboratory, moved to its current location in 1954 from its former location at the Hammer Air Force FIeld (which was acquired in 1947-48, and now is home to the Fresno Yosemite International Airport and National Guard base).
