Institute for Food and Agriculture

Our Focus

As an independent research facility, the Institute for Food and Agriculture (IFA) plays a vital role in helping California's agribusinesses meet the challenges posed by an ever-changing and increasingly competitive world. With over 400 different agricultural commodities commercially produced in Fresno County, there are endless opportunities for applied agricultural research, educational outreach and hands-on interactive learning.

IFA faculty and staff research fellows pursue applied research opportunities specifically within agribusiness, food science and nutrition, animal science, ag education, child and family studies, and entomology.

IFA works hand-in-hand with faculty and industry leaders to disseminate research findings through workshops, trainings, conferences, and various publications.  Recent/on-going outreach and training events include Calf Health, Livestock Artificial Insemination, Salumi 101, International Restaurateurs Study Tour, and Dairy Lab Skills Enrichment Workshop, Fresno State Opening Weekend of Corn, Bulldog BBQ Bootcamp, Cochran Research Study Tours, and more. Additionally, we host an annual Agribusiness Management Conference in November.
