Dr. Yi Wang joined the Department of Agricultural Business at Fresno State in 2026.
She is excited to begin her faculty career in the Central Valley, a region whose agricultural
economy, food systems, and policy challenges closely connect with her teaching, research,
and outreach interests.
Dr. Wang earned her Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. Her research
examines food and agricultural markets, with particular emphasis on government policy,
market structure, firm conduct, consumer welfare, and vertical relationships in supply
chains.
In and beyond the classroom, Dr. Wang aims to reduce barriers to learning and empower
students to think critically and take ownership of their educational journeys. She
believes that students learn most effectively by actively engaging with ideas, applying
concepts to real-world problems, and reflecting on their progress. Her approach is
grounded in TRLE: Teach, Reflect, Learn, and Evolve. Through this framework, she is
committed to creating an inclusive learning environment in which students build technical
skills, confidence, and the capacity to become independent, lifelong learners.
