Smart Farm University
The Smart Farm University project aims to connect Veteran and Underserved farmers, ranchers, and foresters to education, training, and assistance in the Central Valley through a comprehensive cohort.
The cohort is at no cost and open to participants with: no experience, beginning farmers, small-to-medium scale, and already operating farmers.
The cohort curriculum is oriented towards agricultural business, conservation, and technology; with a goal of increasing business and developing new market opportunities.
The curriculum will consist of classes such as (but not limited to):
- Business Structure
- Business Planning
- Farm Planning
- Agricultural Technology
- Good Agricultural Practices (GAP’s)
- Taxation
- Record Keeping
- Funding Opportunities
While attending farmers will gain access to one-on-one technical assistance resources, ease-of-access to applicable agricultural information, and an introduction to a network of different industry experts, USDA Representatives, or other relevant agricultural parties.
Additionally, the project seeks to collaborate with: local, county, regional, or state agricultural organizations, non-profit’s, and academic institutions.
