Institute for Food and Agriculture
The Institute for Food and Agriculture (IFA) plays a vital role in helping California's agribusinesses meet the challenges posed by a changing and increasingly competitive world. Serving as an independent and nationally-recognized research facility, the center offers resources, economic information and expertise to help address the issues facing production agriculture and related agribusiness industries.
IFA activities address all major components of agriculture and agribusiness, including production agriculture, processing, distributing and marketing, management, and policy-making. Research and training efforts focus on issues such as international trade and export marketing, water and energy management, and farm labor and personnel management.
IFAworks closely with faculty from Fresno State’s Department of Agricultural Economics to conduct many of its activities. The center sponsors training sessions, workshops and forums designed specifically for the agricultural community.
Center for Irrigation Technology
The Center for Irrigation Technology (CIT) is an independent testing laboratory, applied research facility, and educational
resource center based at Fresno State. It is the only independent laboratory in the
United States specializing in testing and evaluating irrigation equipment and plays
a leading role in the development of national and international standards for irrigation
equipment and testing procedures. More than 20,000 square feet of state-of-the-art
laboratory space is available for research and development for both public agencies
and private businesses.
Testing and training activities are conducted by full-time staff technicians under the leadership of the center director. University professors, staff and students also use the facilities to conduct specialized research projects. CIT irrigation and engineering specialists offer seminars, workshops, study tours and customized training programs to domestic and international clients.
