Agricultural Innovation Summit: Unleashing the Power of Technology and Data in Agriculture
Join us for an exciting two-day convening hosted by USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) and California State University, Fresno. Together, we will explore the power of innovation, automation, and technology in addressing the evolving needs of the agricultural sector.
This event brings together USDA staff, interdisciplinary faculty, students, and industry representatives to showcase the use of data and cutting-edge technologies like automation and artificial intelligence. Through collaborative "Ag-athon" teams comprising government, academia, and industry participants, we will tackle two critical challenges facing the agricultural industry.

Challenges will be available the Week of January 27th.
The objective is to challenge students with real-world problem scenarios, provided by AMS, and let them compete in the development of unique and creative solutions to these problems that can be implemented. This will allow students to showcase their skills at problem solving and developing innovative solutions while also allowing AMS to improve services integral to supporting the agriculture sector.
Two separate challenge paths will be available to choose from.
1. Improve the efficiency and/or accuracy of agriculture commodity inspection (e.g. automation, AI-powered image analysis)
2. Improve AMS agriculture information dissemination and accessibility (e.g. AI-powered chatbot, website redesign)
This is a competition where the final presentations, judging of the results, and recognition will take place during the Summit. Attendees will be able to see first-hand the approaches taken to solve the problems along with the results.
