Irrigation equipment demonstration showcases new innovations
(Nov. 13, 2018) – The Center for Irrigation Technology at Fresno State will host its second annual Innovations in Ag Irrigation Technology Demonstration and Showcase from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the University Agricultural Laboratory.
Area farmers are encouraged to sign up for the free event to observe and learn about water- and energy-saving technologies installed on the 1,000-acre campus farm and meet 30 industry exhibitors. Lunch and bus transportation between locations will be provided for registered attendees.
Demonstrations will include:
• WaterBit automated smart irrigation technology that monitors fields with water sensors, valve controllers and solar-powered transmitters
• McCrometer DuraMag battery-powered water meters and wireless telemetry systems used for data usage collection
• REDtrac remote water and maintenance monitoring equipment for motors, pumps and other systems

Parking is available in the Center for Irrigation Technology dirt parking lot (5370 N. Chestnut Ave.) where check-in will also take place that morning.
The event is co-sponsored by the Advanced Pumping Efficiency Program, Bermad and the World Ag Expo.
“This event is a great chance to see first-hand and ask questions about exciting irrigation equipment that integrates smart technology and is used at our University Agricultural Laboratory,” said Sarge Green, interim director of the Center for Irrigation Technology. “Attendees can also discover other irrigation and energy-efficient products and meet companies and exhibitors that help make this area an internationally-recognized leader in water conservation.”
The Center for Irrigation Technology is part of the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology and is one of several water research organizations on campus that include the California Water Institute and the Water, Energy and Technology Center.
