Ag business faculty emeritus John Shields passes away
(February 27, 2018) -- A celebration of life is planned for 3 p.m. on Friday, March 9 for Dr. John Robert Shields, a Fresno State agricultural business faculty emeritus.

Shields passed away peacefully on Feb. 7 after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.
He joined the faculty at Fresno State in 1978 and taught agricultural economics for 31 years. He also participated in international education projects in Botswana and Armenia, and served three years on staff with the Board for International Food and Agricultural Development in Washington D.C.
He spent his retirement assisting with the campus emeriti and retirees association and traveled the world with his wife and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, their daughter Lisa Kathryn Fletcher, her husband Brian and four grandchildren, Benito, Jackson, Samuel and Penelope.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to the Ag One Foundation or to the Fresno State Study Abroad Program in Continuing and Global Education.
