The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology
Fashion INC. club to feature student designers at spring show
(March 10, 2016) – The Fresno State Fashion INC. student club will host its sixth
annual Spring Fashion Show from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 at the Satellite Student
Union.
Admission is free with a student, faculty or staff ID and $5 to the general public.
More than 40 designs and styles by five student designers will be showcased ranging
from casual to evening wear and outfits from the Fresno State Campus Development Center
Clothing Closet.
The biggest event of the year for the 15-student club will consist of opening and
closing dance performances, a runway show and mini-art show by Fresno State students.
Spectators can enter a raffle for gift baskets and gift cards. After the event, they
can meet the designers and enjoy refreshments.
“The fashion show is a great way for us to showcase the creative skills of our students,”
said club president Danika Brumbeloe, a senior. “Each year we love including students
from other majors such as theater and dance, and this year we’re excited to expand
to art students, too. The show has become an artistic outlet that allows students
to apply their skills with real hands-on experience.”
This year’s theme is "Art Off the Canvas" and encourages students to pick an artist,
art style or work of art to inspire their collections.
The event has received funding by Associated Students, Incorporated and hair and make-up
styling from Paul Mitchell and the Makeup Imaginarium,
The club is sponsored by the fashion merchandising program and is part of the Jordan
College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology and Department of Child, Family and
Consumer Sciences.
“This event takes an incredible amount of coordination and planning and is overseen
completely by our students,” said Dr. Lizhu Davis, club advisor and fashion merchandising
professor. “Students leave the show with long-lasting memories from all their hard
work and extra momentum to follow this path as a career. For those attending the show
it's a great chance to support our students, learn about the club and our fashion
merchandising program. It all makes for a fun Saturday night.”
