New Jordan College Student Leadership Council Unveiled
The Jordan College Student Leadership Council announced its new class for the 2015-16
academic year.
This year’s council includes chairperson Ana Lopez, media chairperson Ashley Cropper,
Taylor Abourezk, John Taylor Ball, Anthony Drumonde, Kellen Habib, Huy Le, Carolyn
Maxwell and Keslie Raulino.
Serving under the dean’s office, the council acts as a key liaison to engage Jordan College faculty, students and student clubs. Besides providing opportunities to promote the college and its programs on campus and to the community, it also helps students to develop leadership skills and support college-wide initiatives.
During the year, it hosts a variety of events that include a 5K race, a ‘Welcome Back’ BBQ, the Jordan Olympics, Coffee With the Dean and “Finals Celebrations” gatherings, and a variety of campus events to highlight National Agriculture Week, National Ag Day and finals week.
Jordan College Interim Associate Dean Kathie Reid-Bevington serves as the group’s faculty advisor that meets monthly. The group looks forward to team-building retreat in August that last year included team-building activities and the campus EDGE ropes course.
"From its inception in 2011, the council has steadily increased its visibility in the Jordan College and on campus,” said Reid-Bevington. “We are a diverse college, with seven departments that include traditional and non-traditional agricultural areas, and the council has consistently found new and creative ways to infuse energy and creativity into educating their peers and the community about the importance of our disciplines. We look forward to another productive year.”
Funding for the council is made possible by the Bill Jones Leadership Endowment fund.
