Growers to gather at vineyard mechanization and sensing workshop April 25

(April 24, 2015) – Wine and raisin grape growers can still attend the Fresno State Vineyard Mechanization and Sensing Workshop 8:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. this Saturday, April 25 at the Leon S. and Pete Peters Educational Center (Shaw and Woodrow avenues).

The workshop is hosted by the Department of Viticulture and Enology and will feature presentations from Fresno State faculty members and other guests on new varieties, irrigation, mechanization and quality issues for large and high-value producers, as well as other topics.

Morning presenters include Fresno State faculty Dr. Serhat Asci and Dr. Kaan Kurtural, University of California Cooperative Extension specialists Dr. Matthew Fidelibus and Dr. Anita Oberholster, and TerrAvion representative Bob Westbrook, and Fresno State professor Dr. Sonet Van Zyl will serve as a moderator.

The workshop will then move to the Fresno State vineyard for a lunch at 12:30 p.m. on Barstow between Cedar and Maple Avenues.

Outdoor vineyard workshop presentations will continue between 1:15 - 3 p.m. and will be hosted by Thomas Clemens of Clemens Vineyard Equipment and Chris Peterson of Midwest Grower Supply Manufacturing.

Interested persons may register onsite for a $95 registration fee that includes refreshments, lunch and parking. Payment can be made only by cash or check to Fresno State (credit cards not accepted).
