With his appointment as associate dean in August 2023, Dr. Steven Rocca's background reflects the university's commitment to serving Central Valley students and empowering a new generation of dynamic leaders.

The native of nearby Easton is a 1995 Fresno State agricultural education alumnus who returned as a faculty member for its Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education Department in 2001. Besides serving as its department chair, he has also taught agricultural education courses, supervised the College's Ambassador Program, and co-advised student committees that coordinated FFA Field Day and California State FFA Conference events.

He has also been a valuable mentor to Fresno State students conducting agricultural education research at the undergraduate and graduate level. His farm bureau discussion meet teams have also shined since he became their adviser in 2006, and have celebrated three national titles and nine individual and 10 team champions at the state competition.

He received several honors as an agricultural education teacher at his alma mater, Washington Union High School. He later received his master's degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and doctoral degree from the University of Florida.
