Dr. Balaji Sethuramasamyraja (Dr. Seth) joined Industrial Technology team in 2006
serving Industrial Technology department and Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences
& Technology academic programs through teaching, research and outreach activities
in geospatial technology including - development of sensors, instrumentation and control
systems, application of Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) & remote sensing, information systems, and robotics. Dr. Seth earned his BS
in Mechanical Engineering from University of Madras, India and served the industry
as a Reliability Engineer, Engineering Research and Development Center at Caterpillar
Inc., on mechanical design and development. He furthered his research through MS in
Industrial Engineering from University of Cincinnati, Ohio and PhD in Biological Systems
and Agricultural Engineering from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Nebraska. He is
actively involved with Association of Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineers,
California Geographic Information Systems, Association for Technology, Management
and Applied Engineering professional societies. He takes immense pride in student
advising, research and student success. Dr. Seth is the Coordinator for the new Precision
Agriculture Technology minor and the Program Director for the Agricultural Systems
Management option.
