Join Us for the West Side Luncheon on November 8!

A One and Fresno Equipment Company Invite you to the second annual West Side Agriculture Alumni and Friends Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Enjoy a BBQ lunch while visiting with fellow alumni, friends, faculty and staff of the Jordan College. Event proceeds benefit students and programs in the Jordan College. The Luncheon will be held at Fresno Equipment Company in Five Points. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and reservations are $35, RSVP by Nov. 1. Ag Boosters BBQ event

40 years of the Ag Boosters BBQ is in the books!

Thank you to the sponsors, donors and attendees who supported the Ag Boosters BBQ on September 10, where we celebrated four decades and more than $1 million raised for Ag One and CWA! Guests enjoyed an exciting evening including a social hour sponsored by Fermin Campos Farms featuring Fresno State farm products and cheese tasting provided by valley industry partners. The Dog House, sponsored by Breco Firearms, was quite the hit offering a chance to win a Benelli shotgun or a Tiffany Blue .22 pistol! The CWA Country Store, sponsored by Ultra Gro Plant Food, encompassed a beautiful display of home grown farm products, handmade goodies and an array of silent auction items. Fresno State wine and other beverages were available at the bar sponsored by Rabobank and a delicious barbecue dinner, sponsored by Zenith Agribusiness, was prepared by Cal's Catering. Mark your calendars for the 41st Annual BBQ on September 9, 2018!

Fantasy Vacation

Congratulations to our Fantasy Vacation winners, Gary and Marnie Visser!

The 2017 Fantasy Vacation raffle was once again a fun and exciting drawing. The raffle is one of Ag One's efforts to provide financial support to the deserving student, as well as supporting the many programs in the Jordan College. Thank you to everyone who supported through sponsorships, donations and raffle ticket purchases. Every year, one lucky Fantasy Vacation winning ticket is drawn at the Ag Boosters BBQ. This year's Fantasy Vacation winners are Gary and Marnie Visser from Arroyo Grande. Gary is a Fresno State alumnus from the Craig School of Business ('72) and his wife Marnie is an alumna from the Jordan College ('73). They will get to choose from our Fantasy Vacation offerings, which include: an Alaskan Cruisre, America's National Parks, the Azores Islands, Costa Rica, the Greek Islands or the Iberian Tapestry. Congratulations Gary and Marnie!

Kern county farms

Kern County Alumni and Friends Luncheon, November 15

Join us for the 38th annual Kern County Alumni and Friends Luncheon at Sun Pacific Farming in Bakersfield on Wednesday, Nov. 15! This event is an opportunity to see all that Kern County has to offer the community, students and agricultural industry. Enjoy a BBQ lunch while visiting with Fresno State, Bakersfield College and local high school students, then stay for a facility tour. The social begins at 11 a.m. followed by  lunch and program at noon and the tour at 1p.m. Reservations are $35 per person, RSVP by Nov. 8. California Cotton Alliance gathered on campus

Members of the California Cotton Alliance (CCA) met in the Jordan Agricultural Research Center on Sept. 21 for their board meeting. The group met students who received a CCA scholarship and are pursuing degrees in the Jordan College. Please join us in thanking CCA for their continuous support!

Valley Ventures

11 water, ag and energy start-ups selected to recieve Valley Ventures support

The Valley Ventures Accelerator at Fresno State announced its fall cohort of start-up companies that will receive venture capital direction and support in the water, agriculture and energy technology industries. The three-month program will provide professional guidance on growing sales, company value and profitability for 11 emerging companies from primarily California, as well as Brazil, Chile and Malaysia. Wine Month

California Wine Month Celebration recognizes Fresno State students, faculty and staff

Congratulations to Department of Viticulture and Enology seniors Javier Garcia and Greg Herzfeldt who were recognized at the California Wine Month Celebration hosted by the Madera Vinters Association. The students each received a $2,500 scholarship in memory of department founder Professor Vincent E. Petrucci and former winemaster/faculty member Professor Ken Fugelsang. Also honored at the event was department outreach and events coordiantor Cynthia Wood who won the MVA honorable partner of the year award. Read more.

Emiliana

Visiting faculty from the Azores

University of the Azores agricultural faculty Dr. Emiliana Silva enjoyed presenting to Fresno Stat classes and meeting faculty, staff and other Central Valley friends with Portuguese ties over the course of her recent 7-day trip. Fresno State signed a memorandum of understanding in 2016 with the University of Azores, which has a respected ag department on its Angra do Heroismo campus on Terceira Island. A grant by the Lisbon-based Luso-American Development Foundation has helped fund the academic exchange of agriculture students and faculty between the campuses. Planning is underway for students from each institution to participate in the second year of the exchange program in 2018. Read more.

Rachel Coelho - Student Assistant

Rachel was born in Turlock, California where she lived until she began her college career at Fresno State in 2015. She is an Agricultural Communications major and a Plant Science/Crop Production minor currently working toward her Bachelor of Science degree. She plans on pursuing a career in public relations and advertising for an agricultural corporation. Rachel joined the Ag One team in April of 2017
