Moller Family Gift Transforms Mechanized Agriculture Lab
In 2017, the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology unveiled the first phase of renovations to its Mechanized Agriculture Laboratory — renovations made possible by a transformative $250,000 gift from Dr. James Moller and his wife, Carol. Today, this gift continues to revolutionize the program and laboratory at Fresno State, impacting generations of students. The Mollers’ donation was made in honor of Jim’s father, Leonard Moller, who operated the Acme Machine Shop in Fresno until 1973.

J.G. Boswell funds leading researcher as Plant Science Chair
The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology is proud to announce the
prestigious appointment of Dr. Margaret Ellis as the incoming J.G. Boswell Endowed
Chair in Plant Science at Fresno State. Established through a generous $1.2 million
gift from the James G. Boswell Foundation in 2004, the position has created a vessel
for groundbreaking research and transformed student experiences in plant science.

Roots That Run Deep: Fresno State Soil Judging Team
For Pennsylvania native Michael Sowers, the roots of soil science – and soil judging – run deep. Sowers spent two decades working professionally in Pennsylvania and eventually returned to his alma mater as head coach of the soil judging team. In 2014, a new opportunity brought Sowers to California, where he accepted a position with Valley Irrigation. He assumed his days of collegiate soil judging coaching were behind him – until a mix of passion, persistence, and support from faculty at Fresno State helped him build something entirely new: the university’s first-ever Bulldog Soil Judging Team.
Words of Gratitude

What you do is invaluable for students, as beyond the power of money, the power of education is worth far more. Both can and often do change the entire trajectory of a person’s life. So I want to say once again thank you, and your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Receiving a scholarship through Ag One has been more than financial support, it’s been a vote of confidence in my dreams. It reminds me that there is a community that believes in the future of agriculture and the students who will carry it forward. I’m incredibly grateful for this support, and I hope to pay it forward by becoming the kind of educator who inspires others the way Ag One and its supporters have inspired me.
