Dietetic Graduate Combined - Masters Program / Internship

Our next round of application appointments will be Spring 2025.

Potential candidates who will be applying for the DICAS spring 2025 match – the program designation will provide a 30-unit master of science degree and a minimum of 1,000 experiential supervise practice hours combined over a two-year period.

The Department of Nutrition and Food Science will continue to offer a separate stand alone MS program in Nutritional Sciences. The MS program is for:

• Students wishing to complete an MS degree prior to applying to non-degree granting Dietetic Internship programs
• Preparing students for careers in college teaching, healthcare, industry, community agencies, or graduate study beyond the master’s degree

Program Disclaimer

The application process for supervised practice programs, such as the MS/DI program at Fresno State, has been updated to ensure an equitable process across all supervised practice programs. This new process, which begins in the pilot year of 2024-2025, sets forth the guidelines under which nutrition and dietetics supervised practice programs and their institutions agree to conduct their annual admission process. Please check our website soon for the updated application procedures for our program.

Below are the timelines established by ACEND that our program will comply with:

• March 1, 2025: Applicant notification date (last date to notify applicants). 
• March 15, 2025: Applicant decision date (earliest date applicants are required to accept an offer). 

 

Program Description

The California State University, Fresno Dietetic Internship is a two-year, full-time, unpaid program with a culturally competent health promotion/disease prevention concentration (that includes a 40-hour-a-week, unpaid internship for 9 months). This internship prepares graduates to serve the diverse needs of the San Joaquin Valley and beyond. Interns complete supervised practice experiences in a variety of facilities in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California, including a veterans' hospital, a state prison, a school district, two private hospitals, an out-patient diabetes program and cooperative extension. Accreditation Status

While state interpretations of statutes may vary, it is ACEND's considered opinion that the program meets the educational requirements for dietetics licensure and certification in all states. However, completing an accredited academic program alone does not qualify an individual for licensure or certification as a dietitian in any state. Individuals should review their state's licensing statutes and regulations to understand the specific requirements, including supervised practice and examinations, needed to obtain a dietetics license.
