The Fresno State Equine Program would like to invite you to our first annual donor dinner, The Mane Event. This dinner will be held on November 2nd, 2024 at the Fresno State Animal Science Pavilion. We would be extremely grateful for your involvement with the Quarter Horse unit and would like to take this evening to celebrate the Equine world thank you for your support.

Currently, the Equine Unit provides a hands-on learning environment for all of the equine science classes as well as some courses in animal science. Students may utilize the unit with their class to gain knowledge on colt breaking, stable management, horse production, feeds and nutrition, and equine reproduction. In addition to providing real world experience to students.  The unit also has many volunteers and employees who come from various backgrounds. Some are new to equine and are hoping to get an idea of what the industry has to offer, while others are seasoned horsemen and women who are looking to hone in their equine skills.

The Equine unit has a long tradition as a premier unit on campus where students can gain hands-on learning and real-world, industry experience. In order to continue to provide high quality facilities and experiences, we are seeking support to make improvements at the unit in the following areas.

  • Improve Foaling Facility /Update Reproduction lab to include and show more techniques
  • Improve Riding arenas and Heat Stress Reduction for Horses and Riders
  • Improve Office and Classroom space for more learning opportunities
  • Offer and Provide training on the different modalities within Equine Rehabilitation

This semester we have implemented more opportunities for students to gain experience and have plans to provide more hands-on opportunities in the areas of sales fitting and rehabilitating injuries in the near future.  Our hope is to create a more consistent bridge for students and Industry Leaders to come together and partner in continuing our Equine World.  To do this we offer Internships with partnering facilities in our area to provide more of a variety of learning experiences to our students. If you are interested in hosting interns through Fresno State at your facility, please contact Dr. Alyx Iared at alyxiared@mail.fresnostate.edu

We look forward to celebrating with you at The Mane Event. We would appreciate any support in helping us improve our program. Your support is what makes it possible for us to continue to provide amazing opportunities to eager students. Please RSVP to fsequineunit@gmail.com or sign up on our website.
