New Petrucci librarian Britt Foster
Staff support for the V.E. Petrucci Library has been bolstered with the recent addition of librarian Brittany Foster.
Foster filled the previously vacant position in February to help enhance the library s service to Fresno State students, faculty and staff, as well as to the wine, grape and raisin industries and members of the community.
The library collects and provides access to print and digital materials, particularly those being generated within Fresno State s Department of Viticulture and Enology. Holdings include dozens of peer-reviewed journals; trade and news periodicals; pamphlets and research reports; books on enology, viticulture, biology, chemistry and agribusiness; and conference proceedings and theses.
Foster looks forward to helping students in their research assignments and other library clients find the information they need, whether in print or electronically, as supporting research is the library s highest priority.
I can provide a particular periodical for a student or faculty member to support their research, but I can also connect them to digital tools to manage their research process, Foster said.
I also can help to bridge the connection between research findings and the needs of the industry. What this looks like is answering reference questions, giving both formal and informal instruction on the use of databases and research tools, creating content and creating pathways to content, both online and with print documents in and out of the library.
The V.E. Petrucci Library is housed in the Viticulture and Enology Research Center (VERC) building on the Fresno State campus and is funded by the Viticulture and Enology Alumni Association. It is open to the public. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and closed for lunch between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
