Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. Helping others and motivating
them to achieve more has always been a driving force in my pursuit of this profession.
It wasn’t until I became a part of the Atwater FFA program that I realized I wanted
to focus my teaching career in agriculture.
Educational Background. I completed my undergraduate degree at Fresno State, earning
a B.S. in Agricultural Education. During my time at Fresno State, I held multiple
leadership roles that prepared me for student teaching and strengthened my ability
to be part of an agriculture classroom community.
I began my initial student teaching at Mendota High School, where I taught Intro to
Fabrication and Agricultural Chemistry. This was a rewarding experience, as it gave
me my first opportunity to lead a classroom. A highlight of my time there was co-coaching
the Novice Parliamentary Procedure team and supporting them on their journey to the
State level competition. I am currently completing my final student teaching at El
Capitan High School in Merced, California. Being part of this department has been
an amazing experience. I am currently teaching Welding 1, Ag Biology, and Floral 1,
and I look forward to soon teaching Intro to Small Engines and Ag Chemistry. FFA has
played a huge role in shaping my teaching career by equipping me with skills such
as public speaking, which have been essential to my success in college and beyond.
I was fortunate to assist with coaching the Novice Parliamentary Procedure team at
Mendota High School, and I am excited to begin coaching a Cotton Judging team at El
Capitan High School.
Although I did not come from an agricultural background, I have worked hard to become
a well-rounded teacher. I have emphasized my teaching in agricultural mechanics, particularly
welding, and I am eager to continue expanding my knowledge in engines during my final
student teaching placement. I have also found a huge appreciation for agriscience
since teaching Ag biology and chemistry. After completing my student teaching, I hope
to secure a teaching position in California. My goal is to make a positive impact
in agricultural education by sharing my passion for both agriculture and teaching,
while serving as a positive role model for students in my community. Outside of teaching,
I enjoy spending time with my dog, running, and traveling. I also enjoy helping my
sister run her coffee shop and food truck in Madera.
