Trevor West

Student Teacher

Area of Emphasis: Mechanics

Spring 2025 Initial Student Teaching Placement: Lemoore High School

Fall 2025 Final Student Teaching Placement: Kingsburg High School

Trevor West was inspired to pursue agricultural education through his experiences growing up in agriculture and being actively involved in the industry. Whether working on fair livestock projects, tackling ag mechanics builds, learning from his high school mentors, or gaining agricultural work experience, he developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for hands-on learning. Over time, he realized he wanted to give back to agriculture and make an impact in students’ lives the same way his mentors impacted his.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education with a focus in Agricultural Mechanics from California State University, Fresno, and his Associate of Arts in Plant Science from West Hills Community College. One of his most influential classes was AGED 189, which provided a realistic view of an agriculture teacher’s role. His ag mechanics courses were equally impactful, as his professors built genuine connections and pushed him to exceed his own expectations.

Trevor completed his initial student teaching at Lemoore High School, teaching Ag Mechanics 1 and Veterinary Science 2, and is finishing at Kingsburg High School, teaching Ag Mechanics 1-4, Intro to Agriculture, and Agricultural Biology. He has been actively involved with FFA, as an Advisor, through fair projects, ag welding, fabrication, and farm power competitions, as well as supervising SAE projects in swine, sheep, and goats.

Outside the classroom, Trevor is active with Ducks Unlimited and enjoys hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and working on his grandparents’ property, where he draws inspiration from Joel Salatin’s regenerative farming methods. He also enjoys sports, fantasy football, and rec league softball.
