Spring 2026 Final Student Teaching Placement: Kingsburg High School
Rebecca was inspired to pursue a career in agricultural education largely due to the influence of her high school agriculture teacher, who fostered a welcoming and engaging learning environment that extended beyond regular classroom hours. This experience motivated Rebecca to create a similar atmosphere for her own students… One that encourages participation, support, and meaningful learning beyond instruction time.
She earned her undergraduate degree from California State University, Fresno, majoring in Agricultural Education with an emphasis in Plant Science. Courses such as floral design and horticulture played a significant role in shaping her passion for teaching, as they emphasized hands-on, experiential learning that is fundamental to agricultural education. Rebecca began her student teaching experience at Kerman High School, where she taught Ag Earth classes and assisted with Ag Mechanics. During this time, she developed strong relationships with students, gained experience managing Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, and strengthened her classroom management skills. She is completing her student teaching at Kingsburg High School, teaching a variety of courses including Intro to Agriculture, Floral Design, Ag Mechanics, Ag Biology, and Ag Earth Science. One of her most impactful experiences was observing the academic and personal growth of her freshman students over the course of the semester.
FFA has played a vital role in Rebecca’s development as an agricultural educator by reinforcing learning outside the classroom. She assisted with numerous FFA activities, including livestock species projects, the Fresno Fair, and vine pruning events. Her professional interests include plant science, greenhouse management, horticulture, floral design, and agriscience courses. Outside the classroom, Rebecca enjoys reading and maintains a strong agricultural foundation as a fourth-generation farmer in California’s Central Valley.
