Fall 2025 Initial Student Teaching Placement: Sunnyside High School
Spring 2026 Final Student Teaching Placement: Frontier High School
Paulina was inspired to pursue a career in agricultural education by her high school Ag teacher, whose genuine care for teaching, especially in subject areas Paulina also enjoyed, left a lasting impression. She completed her general education at Bakersfield College before transferring to Fresno State, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education with an emphasis in animal science.
To meet credential program requirements, she gained experience by working at the Fresno State Dairy, where she developed a strong understanding of animal science by experiencing both the positive and challenging aspects of agricultural production. She looks forward to sharing this knowledge with her students.
During her initial student teaching semester, she was mentored by Bitor Bravo Peña and taught floral courses. One challenge she encountered was introducing collaborative learning, as it was not a common classroom norm, which made implementing new classroom management strategies difficult. At her final placement, she plans to teach Ag Mechanics, Ag Chemistry, Ag Biology, and Vet Science.
FFA played a significant role in her decision to pursue agriculture in high school. During student teaching, she assisted with rabbit practices and attended a rabbit show with her students and a department colleague. She also helped oversee several goat practices with students.
Her area of specialization is animal science, supported by her academic emphasis and experience at the dairy. After completing student teaching, she plans to continue her education by pursuing a master’s degree and a doctorate in agricultural education. Outside of teaching, she enjoys listening to music and spending time with her family and dogs.
