Area of Emphasis: Plant Science
Spring 2025 Initial Student Teaching Placement: Minarets High School
Fall 2025 Final Student Teaching Placement: Hughson High School
Kylie found her love in the agricultural industry while pursuing an associates Modesto Junior College (MJC), but she soon realized that she had found a new love in teaching agriculture and cultivating new minds within the classroom. Outside of teaching, you can find Kylie reading a good book, spending time with family, or volunteering at her local church.
After graduating from MJC in the spring of 2022 with an associates degree in agricultural sciences, Kylie went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree at Fresno State. One experience Kylie says was the most notable, was taking Dr. John Williams' hydraulics course where she learned the language of hydraulics. She graduated in the Fall of 2024 with her BS - Agricultural Education on the Dean's List. Kylie has grown her knowledge in agriculture through MJC and Fresno State, but her connections with agriculture started with 4h and FFA in high school.
During her first semester of student teaching, Kylie learned under Kristi Mattes at Minarets High School. She was able to grow her knowledge within the FFA and became involved in the planning and execution of competitions, CATA meetings, and state conferences. Kylie cherished coaching her first Best Informed Greenhand team. She enjoyed teaching Ag Biology and especially enjoyed Ag Chemistry. She found her strength in plant science and floral.
After completing her final semester of student teaching at Hughson High School, Kylie hopes to get hired on at the beginning of the school year in the central valley or northern california mainly teaching science and horticulture. Kylie wants to be able to show her students everything FFA has to offer both in the classroom and outside of the classroom.
