Kyla developed a deep passion for agriculture and education during high school, where
the Agriculture Department became a second home. Encouraged by dedicated advisors
who continually pushed her to grow and excel, Kyla found joy and purpose through active
involvement in FFA, which ignited a lifelong commitment to advocating for the agricultural
industry. Near the end of high school, she began working as a swim instructor and
discovered a love for teaching and fostering the growth of young minds. Pursuing a
career in agricultural education has allowed Kyla to seamlessly combine her passion
for agriculture with her dedication to education.
Kyla began her undergraduate journey at Modesto Junior College, earning dual majors
in Agriculture Sciences and Agriculture Business. She later transferred to Fresno
State, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education. The mentorship
and guidance she received from professors and industry professionals at Fresno State
further solidified her commitment to agricultural education.
She completed her first semester of student teaching at Hughson High School, where
she taught Agricultural Biology and gained experience in Agricultural Chemistry. Additionally,
she assisted with the Opening and Closing Ceremonies (OCC) team and mentored Creed
Speakers. This experience highlighted the importance of community involvement in building
a high-quality agricultural program.
Currently, Kyla is completing her student teaching at Atwater High School, teaching
Agricultural Earth Science and Animal Anatomy and Physiology. In the upcoming semester,
she will expand her instructional responsibilities to include Floral Design and Agricultural
Mechanics. She is excited to be involved with Floriculture team, and the Sheep/Goat
show team.
Beyond her passion for education, Kyla has a deep love for the outdoors, cooking from
scratch and tending to her flock of laying hens. She and her family enjoy exploring
nature through camping, hunting, and off-road adventures.
Kyla is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in Agricultural Education by inspiring
students to embrace the many opportunities available through FFA. She aims to find
a program where she can empower students to develop their skills, leadership, and
passion for agriculture.
