Josefina has continuously shown her passion for helping others grow while learning something new in the process. She grew up in Turlock, CA, where she discovered the many opportunities the agricultural industry has to offer. Through her involvement with Turlock FFA and the agricultural program at Modesto Junior College, Josefina made the most of every unique opportunity presented to her—including learning more about the Boer goat industry through the producers at Boers by Hobby.

Josefina Cervantes completed her AS in Agricultural Science from Modesto Junior College and her BS in Agriculture Education from Fresno State. Throughout her educational career, she met numerous professors who encouraged her to try new areas that were unfamiliar to her. She took action and immersed herself in different areas of agriculture, including Animal Science (poultry, dairy, goats, and lambs) and Plant Science (ornamental horticulture and fruit tree production).

Josefina completed her initial student teaching at Visalia Technical Early College, where she taught Introduction to Plant Science and Introduction to Agriculture. She also worked with students through Opening & Closing competitions, Tulare County Fair, fruit tree pruning practice, and FFA meetings. She is currently completing her final student teaching at Mt. Whitney, where she teaches Agricultural Biology, Introduction to Agriculture, and Agricultural Mechanics.

Josefina focuses on emphasizing leadership skills, learning with intent, and fostering curiosity within her students. After completing her final semester of student teaching, she plans to teach in California, where she is excited to teach courses in animal science, plant science, floriculture, and agricultural sciences.

Outside of teaching, Josefina enjoys baking, spending time with family and friends, and learning something new.
