Fall 2024 Final Student Teaching Placement: El Diamante High School
David Reyes, from La Habra, California, is currently finishing his final student teaching at El Diamante High School. His high school agriculture teachers inspired him to pursue a career in agriculture education, pushing him to strive for his best. David graduated from Fresno State with a degree in Agriculture Education - Teacher Preparation, where his experiences shaped his passion for the field.
As a committee member of the Red Wave Classic, he gained valuable insight into the show industry, and his hands-on work in swine production and mechanized agriculture guided him toward teaching. During his student teaching, David has had the opportunity to work with two FFA chapters in the San Joaquin region. At Sanger High School, he taught Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics and Machine Technology. Now, at El Diamante, he teaches Introduction to Animal Physiology, Agriculture Leadership, and Plant/Soil Science.
In addition to teaching, he has helped coach an FFA opening/closing team and assisted with swine projects for the Tulare County Fair. Specializing in Animal Science, David has applied his knowledge in practical settings while continuing to develop new skills.
Upon completing his student teaching, David hopes to return to Southern California to teach agriculture in his hometown or surrounding areas, eager to share the experiences he gained in the Central Valley. Outside of teaching, David enjoys spontaneous adventures with friends, attending live music events, exploring new foods, and is a passionate LA Dodgers fan.
