What inspired me to pursue a career in ag education is the past impacts my ag teacher
had on my life. The ability to make an impact in the lives of students while teaching
the importance of the agricultural industry.
I earned my degree at California State University-Fresno. I gained my B.S. in Agriculture
Education - Teacher Preparation. In college, I emphasized Animal Science with a special
interest in feed and nutrition.
I completed my initial student teaching at Mendota High School I taught two sections
of Ag Chemistry and one section of Anatomy and Physiology. I helped advise the goat
show team at the Fresno Fair. I coached an opening and closing team. As I enter into
final student teaching, I will take over two sections of Floral Design and Ag Chemistry.
I will take over one section of AFNR and Agriculture Mechanics.
In the past four years, I have worked for California FFA in many different roles.
During that period, I have worked every position available at nearly every conference
CA FFA has to offer. Most recently I was hired by the FFA Foundation to write a brand-new
curriculum for the Discovery Leadership Conference.
My skills in leadership and facilitation have provided me with so much insight into
training and developing students. The time spent in the classroom has also prepared
me to teach many science-based curricula to students.
After finishing student teaching, I plan to begin working as an agriculture educator.
I hope that I am able to find a community and school where I belong and can impact
the lives of students.
