Bianca Soto Lozoya
Student Teacher
Area of Emphasis: Animal Science
Fall 2024 Initial Student Teaching Placement: Fresno Central High School
Spring 2025 Final Student Teaching Placement: Independence High School
Bianca discovered her passion for caring for animals early in life, dreaming of becoming
a veterinarian. This interest led her to join the Foothill FFA chapter during an 8th-grade
recruitment event, inspired by her older sister’s enthusiasm for the program. Through
FFA, Bianca embraced opportunities like raising hogs for her Supervised Agricultural
Experience (SAE) and showing them at the Kern County Fair. Encouraged by her FFA advisor,
Clay Freeman, who recognized her potential as an agricultural educator, she found
her calling in teaching the next generation about the diverse world of agriculture.
As a first-generation college graduate, Bianca is proud of her academic journey. She
earned an Associate of Science in Animal Science from Bakersfield College in 2018
and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with an emphasis in Livestock Business
Management from California State University, Fresno, in 2020. During the COVID-19
pandemic, substitute teaching at Sierra Unified and Golden Plains Unified solidified
her desire to pursue a teaching credential in Agricultural Education.
Bianca is completing her final student teaching at Independence High School in Bakersfield,
following her initial placement at Fresno Central. She has taught courses such as
Introduction to Agriculture, Agricultural Biology, and Veterinary Science, excelling
in hands-on projects like raising chicks, teaching injection techniques with chicken
wings, and conducting plant growth experiments.
Looking ahead, Bianca plans to pursue a Master’s in Agricultural Education and eventually
a PhD, aiming to advance agricultural education through teaching, research, and leadership.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time
with family, friends, and her dog.
