Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education

Amber Layne

Student Teacher

Area of Emphasis: Animal Science

Spring 2023 Initial Student Teaching Placement: Sanger High School

Fall 2024 Final Student Teaching Placement: Gustine High School

The diversity and endless opportunities of agriculture education have always inspired Ms. Amber Layne.
Amber completed her undergraduate degree in agriculture sciences in teacher preparation from California State University, Fresno. Being involved in Sigma Alpha Professional Agriculture sorority furthered my passion for agriculture education.

Ms. Layne completed her initial student teaching at Sanger High School and my final at Gustine High School. During her time as a student teacher, Amber taught Floral Design 1, Intro to Animal Science, Shop Skills, Intro to Fabrication, Agriculture Biology, and Explorations in Agriculture.

Ms. Layne’s role in both FFA chapters was to be involved in all events, fundraisers, and competitions. She was heavily involved in coaching opening and closing, creed speaking, and livestock judging teams.
Ms. Layne specializes in Animal Science and livestock evaluation. The teaching and leadership skills that she developed during student teaching were to be a mentor and role model to all students and demographics.

Amber has a long list of goals that she is wanting to achieve after her completion of final student teaching. A few of those goals include: having a state finalist creed speaker, a top ten finish in the state livestock judging contest, and a state proficiency winner within the first five years of her teaching.

Ms. Layne’s interests include fitness, art, and working with livestock. Amber is a fourth-generation sheep producer and hopes to follow in her father’s footsteps to become President of the California Suffolk and Hampshire Association.
