Biography: Dr. Avery Culbertson joined the Fresno State faculty in the fall of 2016 in a newly-created position to develop an agricultural leadership curriculum for the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
She received her Ph.D. degree in agricultural education and communications with a specialization in agricultural leadership from the University of Florida, and a master of arts degree in communication studies and bachelor of science degree in agriculture from New Mexico State University.
After receiving her doctoral degree, she worked two years as an agricultural communications and agricultural leadership instructor at Oklahoma State University. She taught oral and written communication courses and helped oversee the McKnight Scholar Leadership Program.
She also taught classes and worked with adult agricultural leadership programs at the University of Florida and New Mexico State University. While in Las Cruces, N.M., she also served as a lecturer at Dona Ana Community College and executive director of the New Mexico Agricultural Leadership program.
Her research focuses on agricultural leadership, adult learning, facilitating experiential learning and reflection, and opinion leadership in the food, natural resources and agriculture industries.
