Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education

Farm Tours (*temporarily paused)

*Note: As of February 5, 2025, the campus livestock and poultry units are strictly off limits to all tours and unauthorized visitors (this includes the beef, dairy, horse, meat, poultry, sheep, and swine facilities).

No outside public animals of any species will be allowed on or near the campus animal units without the knowledge or approval of the University Ag Laboratory Manager and/or the Farm Veterinarian (and this includes O’Neill Park and the Animal Science Pavilion on Barstow Ave).

Enhanced safety measures are being implemented at the livestock units according to risk factors (and the strictest protocols will be observed at our poultry and dairy units, and unit leads, support staff and public safety officers are enforcing the specific requirements implemented for each unit).

The precautions are part of a ban announced by the California state veterinarian association on all California poultry and dairy cattle exhibitions due to the continued spread of H5N1 Avian Influenza.

While there are significant gaps in our experts’ knowledge as to the method of transmission, effective preventative measures and overall impacts, especially with respect to humans, the Fresno State University Agricultural Lab, out of an abundance of caution for the public and Fresno State’s own livestock and faculty, students and staff, are hereby implementing the following safety precautions.

These precautions will remain in place and enforced until further notice.

The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in coordination with the Department of Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education strives to provide a quality, learning experience not only for our college students, and for community school groups as well.
