Bob Glim

In memory of Bob Glim

Ag One lost a dear friend and advisor on Nov. 11, Professor Robert J. Glim. He was just shy of his 102nd birthday. Professor Glim taught thousands of students in a wide variety of subjects in the Jordan College, from animal husbandry to ag economics, starting with the founding of the school in 1948 at Hammer Field to his retirement in 1979 as assistant dean. Among his achievements was inspiring a $29.4 million donation to the college, from his friends Bud, Dee and Lowell Jordan, the largest single cash gift donation to any California state university, in 2009. Bob attended Fresno State his first two years as an undergraduate before transferring and graduating from the University of California. He then started the Woodlake High School vocational agriculture department and taught there for eight years while he earned his master’s degree and teaching credential from UC Davis. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his six children, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Donations honoring Professor Glim can be made to Ag One towards the Robert J. Glim Scholarship Endowment or Jaron Ministries. Donate.

Helping Hams

RCO Ag Credit kicks off the 2017 Helping Hams campaign

Thanks to a generous gift from RCO Ag Credit, the annual Fresno State Helping Hams campaign at the Gibson Farm Market is off to a great start! RCO Ag Credit President/CEO Mitch Metzler, former Ag One president, and CFO Anthony Leon joined Dean Witte and President Castro along with members of the Fresno State Cabinet and Associated Students Inc. to launch the campaign on November 13 at the farm market. Money raised will provide holiday hams to organizations affiliated with Fresno State; the goal is to donate 250 hams. The campaign will end on December 4.

Moller Gift

Mechanized agriculture lab renovations made possible by Moller family gift

The Jordan College showcased initial renovations to its mechanized agriculture laboratory on Tuesday, Nov. 14 that were made possible by a $250,000 gift by Dr. James Moller and his wife, Carol Moller. The donation was made in memory of Moller’s father, Leonard Moller, who owned and operated the Acme Machine Shop in Fresno until 1973. James Moller, a University of Minnesota professor emeritus of pediatrics and medicine, grew up in Fresno near the original Fresno State campus. On a visit to campus in September 2016, he saw the laboratory’s traditional but outdated welding and mechanical equipment, which inspired his gift to help renovate the lab. Please join us in thanking the Moller family! View photos.
