Tim T. Murphy Endowed Scholarship

Tim was raised in Chino, California on a small dairy calf ranch and thought that livestock would also be his career path. However, the wide variety of opportunities at Fresno State opened new doors. During his time on campus, he was student manager of the Fresno State Creamery where he bottled milk and made ice cream while his brother Denny Murphy milked cows on the campus dairy. Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics which led him to become president of Apio Produce in Guadalupe, California, now known as Taylor Farms. Tim credits Fresno State and the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity for developing his skills and creating a network of alumni and friends that runs statewide. Rarely in his work does he not meet someone with ties to Fresno State. After leaving the fresh packaged salads and fresh cut vegetables business, Tim started Murphy & Associates, a real estate investment firm based in Arroyo Grande.

Throughout his career, he has been involved in his community and been recognized for his gift of time, talent and treasure. He was the Philanthropist of the Year and recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Santa Barbara/Ventura Counties Chapter in 2024 for his 25 years of service to the Boys & Girls Club of Mid Central Coast, serving in various leadership roles including Chair and Vice Chair of the Board. The same year he joined this board, Tim also began volunteering with the Santa Maria Elks Lodge. He served on committees for the Elks Rodeo and the Elks Parade for 25 years including as the Chairman of the Elks Parade 10 years.
