                          Rob and Jan Gilbert Endowment

Robert "Rob" Gilbert is a proud Fresno State graduate, earning an agriculture business degree in 1974. While at Fresno State he met his wife, Jan Peirano. Jan was a student in the Health and Human Services College, graduating in January 1975 with a degree in nursing. Rob and Jan moved to Oakdale, Rob's hometown, where Jan was a registered nurse and Rob managed the family's feedlot operation for 25 years. He later became the president of A.L. Gilbert Company and is currently the chief financial officer.

Rob and Jan raised their three daughters Liza, Shannon and Heather in Oakdale. The entire family is very involved in their community, volunteering in numerous organizations. The Gilbert's have seven grandchildren and enjoy spending time and making memories with them.

In 2004, the Ag One Foundation formed a Stanislaus County Alumni and Friends committee to deepen the outreach between the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, graduates, and the agricultural industry. Each year a dinner is held, and the Dean of the Jordan College, students, faculty, and staff go to Stanislaus to meet with alumni and friends. Each year someone from the Stanislaus area is honored for their involvement and many contributions to the community, education, and agriculture. They are inducted into the Ag One Stanislaus County Hall of Fame. A perpetual plaque hangs on the wall in Durrer's Barn in Modesto where the dinner was first held.
