Celebrating Chuck Ahlem

Chuck Ahlem is a distinguished California dairy farmer and agricultural leader whose influence extends across Stanislaus County and the broader agricultural community. A lifelong Central Valley resident, he owns Charles Ahlem Ranch in Turlock along with his son where he has built a large, modern Jersey dairy operation. Ahlem is also a founding owner of Hilmar Cheese Company, which has grown into a global leader in cheese and whey manufacturing. 

Throughout his career, Chuck has played a significant role in shaping agricultural policy and advancing the dairy sector. He has served as Undersecretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture and has contributed his expertise on numerous boards and advisory committees, including the Dairy Council of California, the California Milk Manufacturing Board, and the California Animal Health and Food Safety Board. He also remains active in trade and policy organizations that champion and support the dairy sector. Chuck is a proud Bulldog alumnus holding a bachelor’s degree in dairy science from Fresno State.
