Retired Professor and Chair Emeritus 

Dr. Tony Au is an expert in computer integrated manufacturing technology and has taught classes in the areas of product development, advanced manufacturing systems, safety and technology management at Fresno State from 1985 through his retirement 2019.

In his 34 years on campus, he also served as the department chair for nine years, and was the director for the CISCO Training Academy at the university. He was the nominee for the Provost Award of Faculty Service in 2006 and Excellence in Teaching in 2007, respectively.

Dr. Au was also active in the Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) professional organization with whom the Industrial Technology Department's programs are accredited by (and Dr. Au was a member of the accreditation team and also served as the Region Six Director).

Au also served as the President of the California Association of Industrial Technology for two years, senior member of the National Industrial Technology Association (NAIT), and advisor for the Center for Advanced Research and Technology (CART) robotics team, which won the 2006 regional competition. 

In research areas, he received more than $1 million in grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and other institutions for a wide variety of projects ranging from manufacturing improvements, product development, cattle monitoring, frozen fruit production, mechanical cotton harvesting and many more. He collaborated with companies such as IBM, CISCO, Wawona Foods, Duncan Enterprises, Hughes Aircraft Company, Raytheon Systems and Grundfos Pumps. 

In his spare time, Dr. Au loves sailing and outdoor activities.
